League of Legends: Talon Patch

Grace Lim August 28, 2011 Games, PC No Comments

It’s about that time again: Riot has released a new patch for their rising game, League of Legends.

League of Legends is a free to play MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game developed by Riot that was inspired by the Warcraft III mod, DoTA. LoL is a 5v5 team based battle that puts players inside an arena with 3 different lanes (referred to as top, mid, and bot) that are guarded by tiers of towers in order to protect the Nexus that the enemy team is attempting to destroy.

Patches are released for the game biweekly, give or take, that offer a variety of changes to the game: specifically to various champion skills and stats, bugs and glitches in-game, and various flaws and improvements in the user interface (UI).

With the release of Talon, The Blade’s Shadow, many changes were made to Riot’s game which included a fresh new home page to the League of Legends client as well as a revamped shop interface which makes navigating easy.

Improved Shop Interface

Another improvement is a brand new announcer headline which lists Kill Callouts through a feed on the right side of the screen which is detailed and most importantly, instant!

New Announcer Streamline

Other changes in the patch included: new art and layout for the end of game screen, improved messages for game invites to include game type, updated the design for map/game selection, more character skins, and the Summoner’s Rift Autumn map is now directly selectable from the custom game screen.

League of Legends is constantly evolving. It was one of the first games to coin the term “Flavor of the Week” because the game changes on a biweekly basis. Champions that were deemed OP before have now been nerfed in the current patch is due to all the noobs QQing about everything and Riot had to meet their demands. However, this does not stop players from playing the game because the community works together to adapt to these changes and formulate new strategies that keep the game fresh. The curiosity of what the changes in the next patch will be is overwhelming yet exciting, and we can all anticipate what new challenges await us.
