Razer TIAMAT: The Worlds First TRUE 7.1 Gaming headset

Chris Collazo August 18, 2011 Games, Razer No Comments

As usual Razer is ahead of the curve with their brand new Tiamat 7.1 gaming headset. The headset features 10 individual drivers built in to deliver true 7.1 surround sound. Now many of you may be asking yourselves, isn’t my Astro headset or Logitech headset 7.1? Well sorry to break it to you but it’s just a cheap imitation a less true simulation of 7.1 surround sound. For reference the Astro A40′s that we reviewed on our site has two 40mm drivers in each ear cup, while the Razer Tiamat comes equipped with 10 drivers! Eat your heart out Astro because that’s a whole lot of sexy surround goodness.

The technology in the Razer Tiamat blows away anything out there in respects of gaming headsets. Also at glance I have noticed a welcome change in the Razer product line thru this headset, The Tiamat is a more professional looking headset no giant obnoxious blue and red MLG PRO logo. More so I notice how low key hints of green decorate this headset and what looks to be a sturdier design compared to the previous flagship dubbed the Razer Megalodon’s.

The headset is also equipped with snug fit leatherette ear cups. The Razer Tiamat houses two 40mm built in sub-woofer drivers for all of you bass addicts and dub step junkies. You will also notice the headset sports a controller unit so that you may fine tune the level of each audio channel and adjust any settings for the mic or headset needed. I must say this was one of my favorite features on my Razer Megalodon’s.

All in all this headset is sure to make audio junkies and gamers alike swoon. No release date is posted yet but they have listed that they’re going to release it Q4 2011 for $180,my guess is just before Christmas. I dont know about you but I know what I want for Christmas be sure to check out Razer’s site for more details on the headset and Make sure you sign up to be notified when you can pre-order the Tiamat.

Check below for the link to Razer’s official website for the Tiamat and mind you there are two different versions one with 7.1 and a control unit and also a see thru ear cup design so u can see all the drivers. And the other being a toned down version with no control unit and no see thru ear cups.

  • True 7.1 surround sound
  • Full audio customization via control unit
  • Maximum comfort, maximum durability
  • Fully retractable, noise-filtering unidirectional mic
  • A world’s first 10 individual drivers
