HTC Titan: Heavy duty Windows Phone 7, mango included.

HTC has thrown a real contender into the ring. Yesterday they announced the HTC Titan, a beast of a phone with a 4.7-inch SLCD, 1.5GHz processor, 8MP camera with added camera software, 16GB of internal storage and 512MB of ram. The design is quite nice looking almost exactly like an EVO. The phones casing is a unibody aluminium design and the entire back pops off much like the HTC Sensation. HTC has said they worked specifically on the camera in the phone. The camera wields a F2.2. lense  and added software in the likes of a brilliantly executed panorama mode. The Titan is pre-loaded with Windows Phone Mango, wich was release to manufactures in July and is looking smooth as butter. The Titan was made to target that high-end user, so far they have no comment on price and a suspected October availability.

My only real gripes about this phone are the horrid resolution on the Titan weighing in at 800×480, that’s only a few pixels more than standard definition. I know that Windows Phone 7 is a light OS and does not need many resources but the 1.5 GHz processor makes this phone look weak in comparison to competing devices like the Droid Bionic (dual-core 1GHz) or the rumored iPhone 5 (rumored dual-core 1GHz). Windows Phone 7 does not have much in the real of applications but when the games start to pop up and photo editing applications I can see this 1.5GHz processor chockin up on some rendering or gaming.

Windows Phone 7 has the lowest market share of the contending mobile operating systems. They have shown impressive progression in gaining developers, even go as far as paying developers to develop applications.
