Xbox 720 pricing Vita/iPad like tablet controller Revealed at E3

Here is a scan from next months issue of Xbox World. The scan reads:

The next Xbox will be a matte black media hub with a mission to bring games to life in your living room with augmented reality, directional sound, and four-player finger-tracking Kinnect. We told you all that last month. This month, our sources tell us it will have a touchscreen, too.
Microsoft are experimenting with a tablet-like controller with a shape closer to Sony’s sleek Vita handheld / Apple’s iPad than WiiU’s bulky unit- it’s am HD screen surrounded by the traditional 360 buttons and sticks. On 360 that touchscreen will be second only to Kinnect in how you operate your console. It could be a remote control when your watching TV, a browser when you’re on the internet, extra buttons and information when playing a game or a portable display when you want to take your game with you.
If the next Xbox is starting to sound awfully expensive, you’d be right. 360 launched at £279 while PS3 launched at £425, so- we’re speculating here- £399 wouldn’t be an unprecedented figure to put on a machine with Kinnect and touch controller in the box. Microsoft are playing it safe with the CPU and GPU but running wild with the functions that will change how you play, but it won’t be cheap. Expect to see the next Xbox at E3 this June.

Am I the only one who is thinking “seems like they copied the Wii U” Either way I’m excited to see this thing in the coming months. If the buttons and joysticks on the tablet device are to the caliber of the 360′s count me in and take my money! I would most definitely pay a premium for a device that offers a tablet, touchscreen and Kinnect integration. The part about Microsoft playing it safe on the CPU and GPU scares me a little though, don’t want another Wii on our hands here.

My best guess is given the way Microsoft has been pushing windows 8 on all devices, we will see Windows 8 on the controller. Microsoft’s new OS could offer what no other gaming company can and that is an unprecedented way to control games and the future Xbox dashboard. Game companies will be hard up to compete with the beautiful polished OS that is Windows 8. This is a game changer people, and could very well be the reason Xbox will be the number one selling console of the future.
