Dishonored

Bethseda is at it again! Teamed up with Arkane Studios a developer who assisted with BioShock 2. Dishonored looks to be the assassin game I have been longing for. I could personally live without this time period but I give it a pass due to all of the awesome steampunk-ish environments. I am the only person I know that did not fall in love with BioShock and Assassin’s Creed and I am not sorry about it. Dishonored looks like it plays like a pleasurable mix between the two games. Not to mention the giant Half Life walker looking guards we saw in the trailers. Hopefully Dishonored will fill the gaping hole I have that is longing for a good first person shooter.

The only drawbacks I see with this game are the terrible blood effects… boo on that tip Bethseda. Other than that the story feels compelling from the maybe ten minutes of footage we have seen of this game. I cant wait to get my hands on this title.

Dead Space 3

Dead Space and Dead Space 2 slapped the bad taste of survival horror games right out of my mouth. Boasting a (now) lonely engineer forced to ‘Master Chief’ his way out of horrific shenanigans, all-the-while battling his own sanity. Oh, how I’ve missed Isaac Clarke. I want to see Isaac get to the bottom of this whole marker business while decapitating some Unitologist psychopaths. So many loose ends need to be tied up before we can feel complete.

So many loose ends need to be tied up before we can feel complete.

Whats strange is that this time around (in some claustrophobic situation that attracts cults) you can play some co-op with your best bro. Visceral knew how to create an atmosphere completely void of hope and having another person join my spooky space adventures sounds unappealing. EA, please do not ruin this game! It could be the next gaming masterpiece. I’m not even sure Dead Space 3 will be at E3 this year, but if it does make an appearance, you know I’ll be watching the demo until it’s release. And remember, it’s all in Isaac’s head.

Tomb Raider: Crossroads

Now I have never been a fan of the Tomb Raider franchise but the reboot dubbed Crossroads quickly changed my mind. after seeing the Cavern Gameplay Demo months ago I was hooked! Check below for the 6 minute video. The realism in this game is off the charts right down to the grunts and groans expelled from Lara Croft as she navigates the treacherous caverns.

The Graphics shown are incredible my best guess is the demo was run on a PC but if not even more impressive. The way Lara interacts with the environment to solve puzzles is brilliant, a huge departure from some of the quirky puzzles we saw in the original series which detached you from being immersed into the game. My excitement reached its maximum when the confirmation of the PC version was announced.

After seeing this game I could not stop thinking how this game could hugely benefit from DX11 features on PC’s. I think a lot of people are going to find themselves oddly excited for this game and I’m hoping this means more good things from Square Enix, you can only make so many Final Fantasy games right?

The Underdog: Star Wars 1313

Strange to call any Lucas product an Underdog, but as of recent most of their products are recieveing the sharp pointy end of the stick and with no remorse. SWTOR was flop, in my book, and all the other family friendly Star Wars games gushing out of Lucas has me bored to death. Its simple, I love me some Star Wars and I love me some bounty hunter. Star Wars 1313 follows a bounty hunter, hopefully a Fett, working the underground sector of Coruscant named… you guessed it 1313.

Why am I so excited about this game? Well because Coruscant is amazing! Remember in Episode 2, the epic flying transport chase with Jango Fett, Obi-Wan, and Anakin? I want in on that action! I wanna chase rebel scum and hunt them for credits! I want to live the glory days when Fett or Render were names to be reckoned with! No more girly force powers. Count me all in for this title. With all of these game developers listening to their audience I believe that LucasArts might actually pull this one out of the bag.

New gameplay footage, posted today, makes 1313 look breath taking… best game I have seen? Hell yes!

Thief 4

My favorite video game character ever has to be Garrett, thief extraordinaire. He is cynical and calculating but seems to have a professional pride, and prefers to only kill when necessary.  As a highly disciplined master thief, playing as Garrett in Thief: The Dark Project, Thief II: The Metal and Thief: Deadly Shadows brought you into a fantasy world set in the late middle ages that was filled with a variety of intriguing characters.  From the nature worshiping Pagans who seem to bring chaos wherever they go, to the ever observant Keepers dedicated to preserving order and balance in the world, Garrett was sure to never run out of powerful foes and he never left with empty pockets.

Little is known at this time about Thief 4 other than the fact that its being developed by Eidos-Montreal and will be published by Square Enix but I have high hopes that Eidos will have some exciting news on this front this year at E3.
