Let me start this off by saying I suck at Pikmin. Yes me, a 23 year old adult who cannot play and I’m okay with that. My associates and a Nintendo representative clearly let me know how much of a noob I am, but none of that mattered for I was suspended in a Pikmin ecstasy.
I had to refer to the sheer ecstasy of it, because of how addicting this game is going to be. The new Wii U game pad will immerse you into the game like never before. Allowing players to over see the level in a perspective similar to RTS maps. This use of the new game pad makes controlling the 4 new captains a piece of cake.
Some abilities such as swarm have been tweaked to accommodate the motion controls. In addition new ones have been introduced, a captain can now roll side to side and your Pikmin will follow after. The latest Pikmin introduced are the Pink and Rock types. With these new Pikmin come new task that they will be able to perform. During the demo I had to use Rock Pikmin to break through walls and during the Legened of Zelda inspired boss fight they were required in order to remove a hard rock shell from the beast back. I noticed the battle system has been refined to make use of the motion plus technology. The beast would take more damage when I concentrated my tosses to a certain part of its body.
There will be a variety of different gaming modes available in the full release including an offline multi-player mode. I am really looking forward to the games release which we can hope to see at the end of this year. I cannot wait to get together with my friends and throw my loyal horde of plant zombies at overgrown monsters.
