Bioware has announced the first story-related DLC for Mass Effect 3 titled “Leviathan.”
It was first discovered by members of the Bioware Social Network within the files of the “Extended Cut” DLC released over a month ago, and was officially revealed at yesterday’s EA Summer Showcase.

“Leviathan,” the name of a sea monster in The Bible, has since commonly been used to describe large whales or other massive anomalies spotted in the sea. Throughout the campaign you will traverse many planets within the galaxy, and voyage to the bottom of an ocean to discover a large creature able to destroy a Reaper. The campaign is said to last around two to three hours.
The description provided reads:
“Mass Effect 3: Leviathan is the first story-driven, single player DLC to be made available since Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut. Leviathan expands upon the events of Mass Effect 3 with gripping and emotional storytelling, compelling new characters, powerful weapons and unique upgrades. Players will be able to discover more about the origins of the reapers as they race across the galaxy to unravel the mystery that surrounds the fabled Leviathan.”
The package will cost you 800 Microsoft Points for the 360, 800 Bioware points for PC, or 10$ USD for the PS3. While the release date is still tentatively summer 2012, we’ll keep you posted as more news comes forth.
