Valve meets with hardware partners at CES 2013

We saw the not so subtle release of the “Piston” by Xi3. Now we have a bit more light as to what the “Steam Box” might be. While the “Piston” is Xi3′s version of the once rumored “Steam Box” we observed various other manufactures have capable devices. For example Alienware, Digital Storm, and other hardware manufactures with slim or low profile mini computers were on display at Valve’s booth.

Gabe Newell mentioned to The Verge that Valve would produce their own “Steam Box”. Personally I am gunning for the idea that Valve will be developing their own Steam or gamer centric version of Linux for their box.

“WE’LL COME OUT WITH OUR OWN STEAM BOX AND SELL IT TO CONSUMERS BY OURSELVES. THAT’LL BE A LINUX BOX.” – Gabe Newell
